I think the Eye is all physics-based, with this added concept of sentient quantum observation that the base game focuses on.Ġ. The DLC didn't change any of my beliefs on the eye, personally. Does interacting with the Eye change anything in the course of the universe? We know you assist to the end of it if you interact with the Eye, but if it's fate for someone to interact with it (meaning this interaction will happen no matter what), couldn't it be that the Eye simply creates a new universe every time the previous one dies? And the interaction with the Eye would simply show you the end of the current universe and all the stuff others have pointed out. ♧(treat it as an asterisk): this is also something that's not really clear. The main question is: Why did the Owls see the Eye destroy the universe if it's actually not responsible for its end, only for the creation of a new one (provided that someone interacts with it♧)? That would actually be something that could be misinterpreted. This would all make much more sense if that reel showed the end of the universe next to the eye creating another universe, instead of a red signal emitted specifically from the eye pulverizing an Owl. Now, I don't think it actually does that, but then what happened? Did they interpet what they saw in the wrong way? If so, why would the Prisoner know more than the other Owls (because obviously he wouldn't want anyone to see the eye if that meant triggering the end of the universe, he has good intentions)? It makes more sense if they all knew it wasn't gonna kill them but couldn't accept that their universe was gonna end, and the Prisoner simply had another opinion on the matter and wanted others to find out about the eye (which is what he lets out from his dialogues on the eye). With this they analize the eye and they find out it's going to kill them all. I agree with all of this but what I don't understand is: the Owls have this device that can read and project memories(?). ![]() Like, are they some crazy omnicidal maniac who's hoping that some aliens will blow up the universe? It sure doesn't seem like it from their memories or the campfire. But like, if you were actually given the choice, would you really want to commit species-wide ritual suicide by jumping in a black hole?) Your whole journey here suddenly starts to look mad.Īdditionally, if the Eye blows things up, none of the Prisoner's motives make sense. (The Nomai never had to answer the question of "what now" because they never found the eye, and the player doesn't have any better choice. To find out what's inside is to die, and you'll never get to see what comes next. What's the point of going places or seeing things if, in a short time (keep in mind it seems like the owls have a longer lifespan than Hearthians and Nomai), it'll all get blown up? Depending on how long their solar sail journey was, that might be longer than the return voyage. The universe itself has ~200,000 years left, and there's no place for them in the next one. It is certain proof that there is no future. The owls grew fearful of it not because it was some mega-nuke, but because: It ruins the whole theme of the game imo and it's not required to understand the actions of the owls in that light. ![]() ![]() The Hearthian isn't killing the Nomai in the Gloaming Galaxy or anything. The universe is destined to die, and the Eye takes you out of the time stream and you watch the galaxies slowly die out in their own time. Yeah I agree with you, and everybody in the sub is completely wrong.
